On August 1, 2025, KleintjeZuid's new after-school care (BSO) will open its doors in Amsterdam's Rivierenbuurt neighborhood. The BSO will be located in the extension of the Maranatha Church, next to KleintjeZuid's current childcare facility. HOP worked out the complete architectural and interior design to create a playing paradise with three group rooms and a group kitchen.
Natural materials form the basis of the architectural design, with a huge hempcrete wall (with varying colors) between group room 1 and 2, marmoleum flooring made from recycled cocoa husks and a lot of wood use in the structures and the structural area. The interior design features warm natural/earth tones and the addition of permanent play elements, such as a hanging net, arches with play activities, a climbing track and a lowered kitchen worktop where the children can sit while preparing meals.
