At Home with Cerrone

Take a look inside the new home of one of HOP's cofounders. Just around the corner from the HOP office, Michael and his wife Charlotte have completely gutted the 4th and 5th floors of a characteristic building from around 1900. The 5th floor was newly built in 2017 and offers stunning views of Amsterdam's cityscape. Michael and Charlotte decided to furnish this floor as a kitchen, dining room and living room. While the interior design of the top floor has a more modern feel, the design of the floor below it (in the old building) has a more classic feel, matching the characteristic details of the building.

The kitchen is meant to be a real eye-catcher. A curved baseboard and curved upper cabinets, combined with warm oak veneers and a mirrored backsplash, draw the most attention in this 30-square-foot open space. To the left of the 4.5-foot-long countertop is a tall cabinet containing the refrigerator and open shelves. Both are finished in a warm butter yellow color, as is the open staircase that connects the two floors. A garden is not lacking in this apartment, as both floors have a large 10 m² terrace overlooking southeast and northwest Amsterdam.
