On Blasiusstraat in Amsterdam is this sustainable home with a double-height extension in the backyard. The extension was lowered into the ground, which allowed for enough ceiling height to create an extra bedroom on the garden side. This bedroom is located on one half of the extension. The other half features a high void with an open view to the garden. The design of the facade follows the layout of the spaces behind it, creating a playful effect in the facade with windows and doorways that form a playful ensemble in relation to each other. The finish of the facade consists of eco-stone strips combined with Accoya wood window frames.

The house features 8 different floor levels, making it unique in its kind, with a total floor area of some 125m2. The living room, kitchen, dining room, master bedroom, extra bedroom, walk-in closet, bathroom and garden are all connected by at least a few steps. This gives a playful and spacious effect when walking through the house. The art, interior finishes and loose furniture were all selected and executed by the owners themselves and form a perfect symbiosis with the design of the extension and the new floor plans.
